Expertly made in the Louis XVI style, likely around 1940 & very possibly by the Epstein brothers in London, this beautiful console table displays wonderfully detailed embellishments & finery & will add knockout bygone Country House grandeur to any interior. Made of solid mahogany & other mahogany-stained wood, it features beautiful golden ormolu mounts, rosewood & boxwood inlays, floral porcelain plaques & a top of Portuguese Rosa Aurora marble. It has beautifully turned & fluted tapering legs with classical golden ormolu filigree laurel embellishments in the Louis XVI style, which terminate in ormolu toupie feet joined by a shapely 'X' stretcher, centred with an impressive ormolu urn. It features a stunning apron decorated to three sides with ormolu bordering & inlaid rosewood & boxwood surrounding fifteen delightful ormolu-mounted floral porcelain plaques. It has a handy mahogany shelf with rounded front corners to match the beautifully coloured Aurora Rose solid marble top showing wonderfully rich seams, which sits on the table & is removable for ease of transportation. All in all this is a staggeringly beautiful, wonderfully made & lavishly detailed tiered console table, which will enhance any setting with all the grandeur & finery of Louis XVI. CONDITION This is in very good condition. Structurally sound & all intact, the only minor flaws are a few to-be-expected minor nicks & scratches to the lacquer finish, including to the shelf, which are more noticeable from certain angles in certain light, & a nibble to the back corner of the marble top, but overall it's a fabulous piece in really lovely condition & if well looked after it should remain so for many more decades to come - please see the photos.
