Designed by Modernist supremo Mies (van der Rohe), it was likely made in the 1970s & will add stunning minimalist curves, comfort & flair to any interior. Made of chromed tubular steel, the MR20 features a cantilever design & has overarching arms for the ultimate sleek Bauhaus look. It has a broad tan leather seat & matching back with black stitching & is a joy to sit in & gently rock using the cantilever design. Mies van der Rohe was one of the godfathers of Modernism & was the last director of the Bauhaus design institute. His MR20 armchair is exhibited in the Museum Of Modern Art & remains one of the quintessential Modernist Bauhaus designs. Rare & elegant, these Mid Century Modernist beauties quite rightly command huge sums. We also have an MR20 armchair in black leather, please see our other listings. CONDITION This is in good condition with signs of repair. Structurally sound, the lovely quality leather is in good condition & has a few to-be-expected marks to show its age. The chrome has been cleaned & polished & has some to-be-expected marks & the chair has had a break in the past with a previous owner when three people sat on the chair together, after which the legs were welded to make it structurally sound again. Structurally, it has no issues now & is probably stronger than originally & just shows the signs of the welding towards the bottom of the front legs, which could probably be re-chromed. Overall it's a wonderful & rare chair in very usable condition & if well looked after it should remain just as stunning for many more generations to come - please see the photos.
