Description
Swimming Sweet fish. Paint with ink & pigments on silk. Signed Kosui & sealed. Sano Kosui (1896-1960) was a Japanese painter born in Nagano prefecture. First he became a pupil of Kikuchi Keigetsu(1879-1955) & learned shijo school painting, & later learned from Tomita Keisen & consecutively selected at Inten imperial art exhibitions. Kosui was excelled at new southern school of Chinese painting as well as Rinpa school painting. Some insignificant light marks present on the painting itself, otherwise the painting is in fine condition. Some light marks visible especially by the left futai tussel on the top, other light marks, insignificant insect damage, & foxing are present on the painting. The piece is accompanied by a paulownia wood storage box with the artist's signature.
