Etsy - SallyHoban 1920S Silk Robe Vintage Antique
Description
This fine quality bespoke 1920s silk robe is labelled 'Givans, Mayfair House, 112-114 New Bond Street' on the inside. The pale pink background colour is highlighted with pretty white flowers & it has puffed sleeves & lovely repeating triangular detailing to the front & tucks to the shoulders. It is lined in pink silk. It can be worn open or closed as it retains its original belt which is attached to the robe at the back of the waist. This looks to me to be a one-off garment which was especially made for a wealthy lady given its original label from such an exclusive area of London. It is also made from a very high quality silk & has such interesting decorative details. It is a beautifully made garment. When laid flat it is 46 inches long, 20.5 inches across from underarm to underarm & 14 inches across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam. It is straight cut downwards from the underarms. The condition is good overall & it presents very well. There are some very small holes to the front (see photo 10) & a pinhole to one side. When viewed very carefully in a strong natural light there are some scattered small & light coloured surface marks in different places of the robe & on the lining (see photo 9 to see an example of these) which are quite hard to see unless you are looking for them very closely. These did not come out when the robe was hand laundered prior to sale. The silk is fraying on the surface of the button, you can see this if you zoom in to photo 3. These condition points are reflected in the price. There is a deep hem of 5 inches so this could be taken down if you wanted a longer length robe. Please see all the photos & zoom in for details, further photos that show the surface marks in more detail are available on request. 1920S Silk Robe Vintage Antique
