Handmade Driftwood Design by David from Salty Seas A rare opportunity to purchase one of our Driftwood designs online. Most of our driftwood pieces are sold at our many events throughout the year but because lots of customers have been unable to get to our events or some of the shops & galleries that we supply, I have decided to list a few in our Etsy shop... I made my first driftwood design over 30 years ago after seeing someone using driftwood & found ephemera, making spanish buildings & scenes whilst on our honeymoon in Southern Spain. I have always had an interest & an affinity with the British coastline, firstly as a keen amateur photographer so know the Cornwall & Devon coast very well. I wanted to try & use some of the driftwood I had collected to make some typically British seaside houses just for display in our own home. It wasn't long before family & friends asked me to make some for them & that's how it all started. Every one is handmade & unique, with a muted colour palette to enhance the weathered appearance & tactile nature of typical coastline buildings.
