Description
Retro Danish Blue Enamel Table Wall Lamp - rare blue colour way This is the first time we've come across a vintage Frandsen ball in this great mid blue colour. Vintage magnetic enamel ball lamp, designed by Benny Frandsen in 1968. Made by ABO Randers in Denmark, in the 1970/80s. The enamel ball is connected by magnetism to its stand, enabling it be moved to direct the light as required. The stand can be used as a base for a table lamp or attached to the wall as wall light. When removed from its stand the lamp can be hung from the ceiling as a small pendant light. 15cm high. 10cm wide. The lamp is in full working order. It is in good vintage condition with minor signs of age as shown in the photos. This lamp is in good condition but if you wish you can respray it the colour of your choice as was quite normal in Denmark. _________________________________________________________ It has a European plug but we can fit a British/Irish, Aus/NZ, or American plug. It takes a E14 SES bulb, maximum 40w. If used in the USA/100/110/120v we recommend using a low energy/LED bulb, maximum 7w. E14 bulbs should be available online in North America or alternatively you can purchase a low cost E14>E12 adapter to enable it to take E12 bulbs, which are more easily available in North America. _________________________________________________________ Frandsen's 1968 design was probably influenced by Verner Panton's 1959 'Topan' Lamp. The Frandsen Ball was originally produced as a 18cm wide pendant & magnetic wall lamp in brown & orange, the fashionable colours of the day, The magnetic wall lamp, in particular, became extremely popular in Denmark in the 1970s/80s & most Danish homes would have had at least one. These days ball lamps are made by the Frandsen company in China, but back then they were made by several Scandinavian lighting companies. _____________________________________________________________ Note that we have attempted to show & state the condition as accurately as possible but this is a pre-loved, vintage item & some minor signs of age and/or use are to be expected. There may also be slight variations in the colours shown due to lighting, the camera lens & the device the image is viewed through. _____________________________________________________________ Follow us @scandiwegians on social media to see our latest arrivals Danish Frandsen Blue Ball Table Wall Lamp 1970S 1980S Enamel Vintage Retro Light Atomic Era
