Dansk Designs JHQ Quistgaard Onion Candle Holders - early Danish-made, in original box Superb high quality vintage silver item from the 1960s/70s. Absolutely beautiful organically-shaped design. Two very small silver plated onion shaped candle holders, Designed to take 'tiny taper' candles with a diameter of 0.7-0.8mm. They can stand upright or tilt on their sides. Designed by Jens Harald Quistgaard for Dansk Designs. Early model made in Denmark, later models were made in Japan. The onions are 6cm high & 3cm wide. Very good vintage condition with minor signs of age. The box has some signs of age. Dansk Designs was started in the 1950s by an American who toured Europe seeking out talented designers to produce a range of homewares he could sell to the US market. The range was designed to showcase Scandinavian design to an international audience & due to their wonderful combination of form & function Dansk Design items have become highly collectible including in their 'home country' of Denmark.
