Great Scottish gift for a geologist. A thin rock section of Peridotite was viewed by polarised light microscopy. Peridotite is an igneous rock. From the Ardnamurchan volcano, now eroded down almost to the magma chamber, from where this sample would have originally come. Contains olivine, pyroxene & some feldspar. 60 Million years old. (the most recent volcano in UK) 90mm square mdf coasters printed by dye sublimation to give a vibrant, high gloss, scratch resistant finish. Supplied with a description on the back of each coaster. None of the colours have been altered in photoshop - they are all the colours I saw through the microscope!
