This striking, globe-shaped clear glass candle holder was handblown & signed by Orrefors of Sweden. Details of this piece include a postmodern & contemporary orb form, a deep tear-drop shaped candle well, a flat base, heavy weight. This also sports versatile functionality as it can be used as a small bud vase or paperweight as well. Bottom is etched: Orrefors Dimensions: 3 inches tall 3 Wide Fits a specialty size .5 taper candle (we will include one to get you started!) Condition: Good condition but with signs of wear including light scuffing; there is a fleabite abrasion on one side that is visible in bright light. Bottom has scuffing as well. About the makers: The Orrefors glassworks located in Southern Sweden were founded in 1898 on the site of an older iron works & focused on making window glass & bottles until around 1916. The company's legacy was formed as it brought in painters, master glassblowers former Kosta Boda team members, engravers, & engineers that would lead to the innovation of Graal glass. The company produced chandeliers, crystal stemware, & home decor. in 1990 Orrefors merged with Kosta Boda, which became part of the Royal Scandinavia group in 1997. in 2012, the glassworks at Orrefors closed.
