A charming vintage French brass candle holder with a tall, elegant neck. It has a slide on the side which can be adjusted to lower or heighten the candle as it burns. I estimate that it dates from around the 1950s - it is exceptionally well made, solid & heavy for its size - a testament to its high quality. It is in excellent vintage condition without any damage, although it has signs of use on its base due to surface contact & its unpolished condition which gives it a lovely bronze look about it & a lovely patina. Very high-quality workmanship. Surprisingly, no maker's mark or other marking but it is just stunning! Still has an old French Francs price label on the base! Can be polished to a high shine with brass polish if desired. This would make a lovely gift for anyone, & especially those who love all things made from brass. It is a very practical item too - handy for power cuts. Just keep it to hand, next to one's bedside perhaps, as in the old days when there was no such thing as electricity. This charming handheld candle holder would look good in any setting, rustic, farmhouse, modern, retro style. MEASUREMENTS 7 1/2 inches (19 cm) in height 5 1/8 inches (13 cm) in diameter 0.615 kilograms / 21.6 oz It will take a standard size candle. CONDITION It is in a fabulous vintage condition.
