An Iconic chair designed in 1928 by Marcel Breuer while at Bauhaus, & manufactured in the 1930's onwards. While the cantilever design was discovered by Mart Stam & Ludwig Mies a year earlier, Marcel Breuer was the first to design a chair with the continuous tubular-steel frame behind the back & made his seat & back out of wood & cane, which was also popularised by Thonet in the 19th century. However, Marcel Breuer managed to produce a modernist design at the time while using natural materials to contrast it beautifully. Model S64 constructed of beech wood with a padded brown leatherette back rest & seat with a steel chrome cantilever frame. Great as an occasional chair & suited to both vintage & contemporary interiors. DIMENSIONS Width: 52.0 cm Height: 83.0 cm Depth: 57.0 cm CONDITION This chair is in good used condition with minimal wear to the metal frame. Please refer to images.
