Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Creamer, 1912, London, James Aitchison. Hallmarks: Lion Passant - (Sterling Silver Standard) Panther - (London Assay Office) 'r' - (1912) 'JA' - (James Aitchison, Prince's Street, Edinburgh & Bank Street, Edinburgh) Weight: 46g Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Creamer/Cream Jug produced by James Aitchison. Item stands on three lion-footed feet, which attach in a cauldron-esque style. Rim of creamer is beautifully scalloped, with a highly-elaborate handle which detailed with foliate engravings. Silver is highly reflective with an incredibly eye-catching lustre. Silver is dent free, though possesses minor scratches & blemishes allover, especially to bowl-base (potentially from cutlery/flatware abrasive damage). The point at which the handle connects to the creamer jug rim is somewhat unrefined [IMAGE 4]. Hallmarks are located on the underside of the creamer jug's bowl. All are legible & fantastically preserved, in near-perfect condition. The clarity of the Lion Passant, Assay Office, & Date Hallmark are really exemplary, & a real merit of silverworking expertise.
