The iconic American Modern earthenware line designed by Russel Wright & manufactured by Steubenville Pottery Company in the color gray. The best-selling dinnerware line of all time, production began in 1939 & ceased in 1959. This listing is for 8 cups, 8 saucers, 1 creamer & 1 sugar bowl with lid. Mostly in great vintage condition, with 2 tiny chips on 2 of the cups & another on the inside rim of the sugar bowl lid (see last 2 pics). Minimal crazing throughout but no stains. Most items are marked with signature & made in America, some very lightly, almost invisible, others stronger. This is a great starter set to any fan of the Iconic Industrial Designer. Dimensions: Cups: 3 3/4 wide by 2 H Saucers: 5 3/4 Diameter Sugar bowl with lid: 6 1/2 at widest point by 2 3/4 H. Creamer: 7 1/2 at the widest point including handle by 2 3/4 H. Russel Wright's method of design came from the belief that the table was the center of the home. Designing in layers from there outwards, he designed tableware to larger furniture, architecture to landscaping, all according to his concept of easy, informal living. It was through his immensely popular & widely distributed housewares & furnishings that he revolutionized the way Americans lived & organized their homes in the mid 20th century.
