Description
When I was seventeen I spent the summer of 1987 working as a ranch hand at a summer camp on Fort Peck Lake in the Bad Lands of Eastern Montana. Many a summer night I lay on the cold hard ground staring up at an ocean of stars. The Southern banks of Fort Peck lake was arid scrub lands & miles of steep bluff eroded by millennia of powerful Montana thunder storms. Growing out of a lime stone cliff face was a twisted little Limber Pine. Its roots ran across the rock face, digging into any crevice it could find purchase. The tiny tree's trunk was gnarled & twisted with withered arms awaiting rain that was still weeks away. I later learned that the lonesome tree might have been hundreds of years old. This piece is plasma cut by hand & mounted on Black walnut. -Ross Wall Art, Nature Live Edge
