Description
This is a gorgeous green striped fused glass bowl. Use it as a candy dish or fruit bowl, as a catch-all for your keys & wallet, or simply as a stunning accent piece in any room in your home. The bowl measures approximately 7 1/2 inches in diameter, & 1 1/2 inches tall. It is a thick piece weighing 1 pound 3 ounces. This piece makes a statement! How it was made: Art glass in various shades of translucent & opaque green, plus white & clear was cut into 1/4 strips. The strips were placed on edge in a specially prepared stainless steel ring. It all went into the kiln to be fused together into a gorgeous disc of striped glass. The edges were sanded by hand to smooth any rough spots, & then the disc went back into the kiln to be fire polished. Finally the disc was fired a third time to slump it into the slightly organic bowl shape that you see. With all three firings the piece was carefully annealed to ensure the strength & integrity of the finished bowl. This piece spent a total of over 50 hours in the kiln. Thanks for stopping by!
