Vintage French Pottery Vallauris Candleholder - Country styling - Chamberstick. A little about Valluris pottery :- Vallauris Golfe Juan is a tourist town of the French Riviera near Antibes known as the city of 100 potters. Its name (Valauria in Provencal) means the golden valley. It is divided into two parts: the upper town is the old centre, & the other part, the seaside from the port along the coast, towards Antibes. The pottery of Vallauris is originally traditional culinary ceramics that was probably born at the time of the Roman occupation thanks to clay deposits nearby. Orange & brown glazed ceramic base candlestick - very striking colourful example. Lovely pillar candle holder in a studio pottery decorative style. Super wee willie winkie style - see photos. It has been used & loved - shows little signs of wear , but there is a small scuff - 3mm to the side rim. This stylish holder would make delightful statement piece - very unusual.
