Vintage French carved plate depicting life in the area known as Savoie. Likely a souvenir bought in the 1950s. Savoie is a department in the Auvergne-Rhne-Alpes region, South-eastern France. This hand-carved wooden / resin plate from Savoie is a delightful piece of craftsmanship. This example features a mountain scene complete with lodge nestling in the mountains. There is a depiction of a Shepherd surrounded by his flock of sheep & trusty dog. Circa 1950s wall plaque captures the beauty of mountain scenes. There are carvings of various shields depicting the areas of the French region known as Savoie. The back panel has a warped over the years still bears the original sticker. Nice heavy weight rack with hanging hook to the back. Solid well-made piece, no makers mark but feels quality. Nice collectible item. Possibly made mid-century. Size 8.5 inches in diameter. Beautiful in a period hallway, decorative & useful. A wonderful decorative item - a treasure from a bygone era.
