Description
This is a fabulous, vintage, sculptural, hourglass, possibly hand thrown, red clay, floral vase. It is an unsigned piece of Outsider Art, but certainly done by a talented artisan. It measures about 4 1/4 inches wide by 8 1/2 inches tall & has an hourglass shape going from large to small. The foundation of the piece is molded in red clay with a white over-glaze which is topped with daffodil, flower decoration. The finish on the vase is a gloss glaze. The combination of the shape, the glazing & color mix along with the floral decoration make for a very exciting & alive sculpture even if you don't use it as a vase. There is some crazing in the white glaze & a small, black spot on the backside which was done during the glazing process. The rim of the vase might look like it is chipped in the photos, but it is not, just a bit uneven. Overall this one-of-a-kind beauty is in excellent condition.
