Beaker, handmade ceramic pottery Beaker or tumbler black & white slips. Beakers are loosely thrown on a momentum kick wheel. Decoration is spontaneous & beakers are purposely informal, slightly misshapen, drips & finger prints. For tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, cider, beer or anything. They are made from earthenware clay which is porous unless glazed & is fired at a lower temperature. Work is usually fired at 1050 c in an electric kiln, over a much longer period than most. Because only one firing is carried out, & clay made, decorated & glazed in this way usually carries far more moisture. So any water in the piece has to be given the chance to evaporate before the glaze melts in the kiln, otherwise bubbling or even explosions can happen. I have experienced this on a few occasions. Dimensions: 12cm high x Diameter top 9cm x Diameter bottom 6.5cm. ( Sizes are approximate) With makers mark Pots are dishwasher safe but would advise to hand wash.
