Amazing original vintage Hornsea flour storage canister with wooden lid. Designed by John Clappison, the Heirloom pattern was launched in 1967 using a new printing technique which screen-printed a resist medium on to the biscuit wares before glazing, so that the glaze covered the unprinted parts of the design, creating contrasting semi-matt areas. The thicker glaze created a relief effect that enhanced the design. Made in England. Perfect addition to any retro kitchen! Superb canister in very good used vintage condition, slight wear commensurate with age, more notable are some light crazing lines to back of jar with a deep scratch (see photos) however, this is hardly noticeable untile closer inspection. No signs of chips or major damage. Seal still fits quite tightly. All in all a very funky & collectable pot!
