Description
Beautiful Tall Red Glass Bud Vase from the 1950s. Very attractive & striking. Good weight to the vase, as you would expect from Floris Meydam. Very lovely indeed! Approx 39cm tall Approx 8.5cm Diameter at its widest point Approx 3cm Diameter at the top of the vase Excellent condition indeed. It is vintage, so some aging is to be expected, but this is really in wonderful shape for its age. This has obviously been a very cared for piece. There are some bubbles in the blue of the glass, but this is normal as it is handblown glass, & to be expected - this is what makes these vases so charming! Floris Meydam (1919-2011) was a glass maker & desginer. Born in the Dutch town of Leerdam, Meydam went through the trade school system as a glass maker, starting work in 1935. in 1943 he became a trainee at the Leerdam Glass School, where he was appointed teacher in 1944, joining the design department at the same time. He was chief designer at Leerdam Glass Factory, Holland, from 1949-1984. He created both table & ornamental glass for large scale production. His work is extremely well known & stylish!
