A truly opulent & extremely rare antique French mirror from the 19th century. This exquisite French mirror was discovered in October in the South of France. Dating from the mid 1800's its original beveled mercerised glass mirror is placed within a luxurious wood frame that is covered in a stunning blue velvet on its front & blue silk on the back. The front of the frame is adorned with a highly ornate sterling silver embellishment that is fantastic in its splendid design of intricately fluid shapes that are absolutely breathtaking. Perhaps in the past it was commissioned as a wedding gift to be displayed in a French boudoir, for at that time such sumptuous treasures were as extremely rare as they are today. Especially when using such precious materials like sterling silver. The mirror measures about 56 x 52 x 4 cm or approximately 22 x 20.4 x 1.5 inches & considering its age it is in a lovely antique condition with minor signs of ageing that in my opinion only bring forward its true beauty & splendour today.
