Intricate Czech ornaments, fashioned from glass beads & rods, were imported into the United States in the early 1900s. They became a favorite choice for Americans, as they loved the enchanting way the ornaments swayed on their Christmas tree branches & today they are a rare find. Gablonz ornaments are lightweight adornments accented with an array of bright colors & glossy beads that reflect light & come to life as they flutter with the air currents. Gablonz ornaments were produced in the region of Jablonec nad Nisaunow the Czech Republicstarting in the middle of the 19th century. They were originally designed as flat, two-dimensional ornaments, often designed with tails of beads hanging from the lower edge with different types of silver or gold-lined beads in countless variations of color, size, patterns & transparency.
