A fabulous vintage glass shop display cabinet dating from around the 1930s. This stunning cabinet is made from heavy glass with two shelves & a glazed wooden door with lock & key. The cabinet measures 61cm high x 37cm wide x 31cm deep. It has a ceramic base & was most likely used in a shop for displaying cakes & pastries. The cabinet is constructed from heavy gauge 6mm glass with two glass shelves & attractive chrome brackets. It stands on four rubber feet. On the front is a wooden frame & door hung on slim hinges & a Bakelite knob & a lock with the original key. A label with the maker’s brand ‘Seal’ can be seen on the top of the frame. The lock still works though the key sometimes needs a little wiggle. This is a beautifully constructed piece of vintage furniture & it is rare to find one that has survived so well. Its size makes it perfect to stand on a side table or counter top. It is in superb condition with just a few minor scratches on the glass top & one small chip. With its two glass shelves, the cabinet can be used to display anything from china or glass collections, books, archaeological treasures or any other curiosities that you’d like to put on show. It deserves to be seen, & would make an eye catching focal point anywhere in your home. PLEASE NOTE: The cabinet is heavy & extremely fragile. For this reason it is sold for collection only.
