A stunning Mid-century Modern sideboard designed by Malcolm David Walker for Dalescraft in the late 1950s/early 1960s as part of the 'Greygarth' collection, described in the brochure as 'a modern interpretation of classical simplicity & line'. Exceptional quality cabinetmaking finished in beautifully grained Bombay rosewood veneers & with distinctive hourglass-shaped handles milled in solid brass. The surround & underframe are made from sapele. Four equal drawers on the left with the upper drawer lined in green baize & with removable cutlery dividers. The two doors open on to cupboards with fixed position shelves (the left-hand shelf is not original). The sideboard has been restored & re-lacquered by hand with a brush lacquer & finished with beeswax polish. There are some minor blemishes in the wood, light signs of wear & a small repair at the back right-hand corner.
