A super kitsch retro wall plaque made by Dartmouth pottery England charmingly depicting a Boy with his Donkey in a Mid Century Modern style. A handmade rustic piece modelled in clay, in relief with a 3-D form & mounted on a gorgeous green hessian board. This has typical 40s/50s glaze colours due to wartime restrictions still in place. Much pottery of this period sold in Britain was decorated only in combinations of brown, amber, white or made from a blue dyed clay, giving the green hues. The Dartmouth Pottery was formed by Howard Koppenhagen in 1948 (production started in 1949). Signed V.S. Watts to the back with original Dartmouth Pottery sticker. Ready to hang! Circa: late 50s/60s Measures: 36cm h | width 31cm | depth 3.5cm frame & mounted sculpture Condition: excellent vintage condition, marks on the glaze are part of the design / production & part of the rustic, handmade charm.
