THIS PIECE HAS SOLD & REMAINS in MY SHOP AS A PORTFOLIO PIECE The B.F. Huntley Furniture Co. was organized in 1906 in Winston-Salem, NC. It had previously been operated as the Oakland Furniture Co. since 1898. It passed through various ownership over the years. The Simmons Co. held ownership of the stock from 1929 to 1935. Huntley furniture with a Simmons label was made during this period. The company passed back to the original owners in 1935. Fire destroyed the Huntley plant on Valentines Day in 1956, but the facility was rebuilt & showed samples at the October furniture market that year. in 1961, Huntley Furniture merged with Thomasville Chair Co. & the Huntley name disappeared. This transformation is nothing short of STUNNING! This Circa 1920s to early 1930s Huntley Simmons antique sideboard made of solid wood, with dovetail drawers, baluster legs & original (stunning hardware has been refinished inside & out. Once completely stripped, the body was hand painted using Melange Paint, a specialty artisan paint in Card Catalog, a vintage inspired, versatile neutral, in a medium khaki with sage undertones. The entire body was then sanded smooth with slight distressing applied to the decorative appliqus. The top was stripped & re-stained in a custom mix of artisan stains, then sealed for durability & longevity. Both drawers, as well as both cubbies, were completely lined in a lively eastern inspired damask wallpaper, consisting of palm fans & medallions, with the worn look of historic hanging tapestry. Original hardware was soaked & cleaned & completes this custom & timeless one-of-a-kind piece.
