I see a lot of baskets at Estate sales & am quite particular about those I select for my customers. This is a really nice, handmade vintage basket in a practical square shape with shallow sides. It is a medium brown color with really nice braided top trim & a sturdy carrying handle well balanced in the center. These folk art elements make this basket really stand out. The single handle is bent wood & is built into the sides of the basket so there is little chance of it coming loose. The bottom of the basket has some really unique reinforcement slats that add to its utility & charm. The craftsmanship on this basket is unparalleled & it is signed N.S. '85 on the bottom. The style & craftsmanship lead me to believe it is from the 1980s. It is in very nice condition. There are a few chips & dark spots on the top woven edge but no broken pieces or compromised spots. It is just beautiful! The size is also very special. It holds quite a bit, & the square base makes it ideal for stacking & displaying. This is a treasure.
