Description
Early 1800s Antique Teaspoons Details ~ Lovey very old six hallmarked silver teaspoons the fiddle pattern design. Beautifully clear markings on each one show; five of them were made by Silversmith Richard Britton ; assayed in London; dated 1820 during the reign of George IV. The final one is obviously a replacement made by silversmith Charles Boyton , this one London assay date of 1832 in the reign of William IV, (William IV the second son of Geo III brother to Geo IV). Again a slight difference to the monogram on the handle the original five engraved HR the sixth one just R. I wonder what in the intervening time had happened to H? Amazing that these teaspoons have stayed together & survived for over two hundred years. What a super gift maybe for a useful wedding anniversary, or wedding gift. Very simple lovely old fiddle pattern spoons that are so good to handle.
