Dimensions H155cm,D60cm,W115cm Floor to seat height=45cm Seat Diameter=52cm Hand crafted in a cottage industry environment the peacock chairs are all woven by hand by families that have been weaving the Buri plant for generations. The design's of the chairs have been going for more than 150 years. During the late 1800s, wicker furniture became all the rage. This is partially due to the fact that porches, verandas, & other breezy areas were in demand, thus necessitating proper outdoor furniture. Since there wasn't air conditioning back in this time, it was also suggested that you could, bring summer inside, & cool down your house with the light & airy wicker furniture. The popularity of the peacock chair did not waiver until the first world war started in 1914. The chair made a come back in the mid to late 60's & stayed in fashion until the mid 80's.
