This is a matching set of a sugar bowl with a creamer or milk jug. Marks to the base confirm maker to be Joseph Rodgers & sons with EPBM & the pattern no' 15173. Both also have XL scratched onto the base. I have tried to find a date when this was made, but have failed miserably. They started trading in 1724 & although they produced items until the 1980's their name is still used by the company that bought them to this day. I would take a guess at early 1900's simply because the lovely shape of the handles & the flourish at which they are attached to the body is very much in the Art Nouveau style, very organic. They are larger than your average sugar & milk set, in fact, the sugar bowl resembles a sauce boat or a custard boat. The jug is 15cm from handle to lip, is 8cm wide & 9cm tall to the handle or 6cm to the lowest point. The sugar bowl is 19cm at the widest from handle to handle 9.5cm wide & 6.5cm high to the lowest point. The jug doesn't have any dents, but there is a bit of a ripple under the lip, the sugar bowl has 1 dent about 1cm at the bottom & another tiny dent that comes from the inside. There is some tarnish to the interiors. Please see images as I have tried to show all the minor flaws.
