Boasting a bow front design, the top of the table features a new black leather with a gold tool perimeter. Below, there is a bank of four hand dovetailed, oak lined drawers which feature top quality satinwood floral inlay to the drawer fronts, bounded by string inlay. The drawer fronts also feature their original circular brass knobs. The writing table also includes a kneehole, which boasts fan marquetry spandrels to either side. The table stands on elegant tapering legs, all of which are decorated with refined satinwood string inlay. The legs terminate on the original brass square collars & mug castors. This is a single piece desk, with excellent proportions. The desk boasts a rich brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour & patination; this can only be achieved through age & years of care & cleaning it has received. This desk would look superb in a variety of rooms from the home office, drawing room or library. They worked as a family business on their premises at 29-31 Little Queen Street, Holborn, in London, later moving to 26 Parker Street, London, W.C.2. They are recorded as having sold furniture to the Arts & Crafts home, Standen House at East Grinstead in Sussex. Aside from constructing their own furniture, they also restored earlier antiques & sold them on from their London shop.
