Focal Utopia Premium Open Back Headphones
Description
From blasting the tunes during your morning 5k to heading out on the commute with a podcast, we all need a pair of good headphones. Right on cue, Focal designs the Utopia Premium Open Back style. Crafted from genuine leather, aluminium, and forged recycled carbon, this pair are complete with perforated microfibre earbuds which contribute to the open sound of the headphones. We’re putting ours on before heading to the gym this weekendFOCAL TECHNOLOGIES AND EXPERTISEUtopia incorporates full range speaker drivers with a pure Beryllium ‘M’ shaped dome, completely open at the back. Focal engineers have risen to the challenge of delivering the sensation of listening to the best Focal loudspeakers! The result is a set of speaker drivers that run with zero active or passive correction, from 5Hz to over 50 kHz. The headphones totally disappear, leaving audio signal reproduction that is unrivalled in its purity.Focal engineers have also developed a voice coil – the centrepiece of a speaker driver, along with the cone – made from copper for reliability and aluminium for lightness: an evolution synonymous with the revamped sound signature, and as uncompromising as ever.NO DETAIL TOO SMALLUtopia is made from premium, sophisticated materials. The yoke, made from forged, recycled carbon, is an elegant stroke, whilst making the headphones more lightweight and distributing their weight more evenly across the head. The genuine leather headband and perforated memory foam ear pads – also leather bound – provide comfort and softness. And finally, exceptional headphones merit top of the range accessories: Utopia comes in a faux leather case with a thermoformed carry case and two high fidelity cables (10ft and 5ft / 3m and 1.5m) for using the headphones at home with an amplifier or on the go with Lemo® connectors and a Jack adapter.A NEW LOOK, A REWORKED DESIGNUtopia is a combination of sobriety and distinction. Adopting the aesthetics of Focal's open back (Clear Mg) and closed back (Stellia and Celestee) headphones, it is adorned with honeycomb grilles on the outside and inside of the earcups. In addition to its Black Chrome coloured rings – now screwed on from the inside – it delivers subtle and sophisticated aesthetic details, such as red glimpses of the speaker drivers’ motor unit or the Yin & Yang effect visible on the outer case, symbolising design and technology in perfect harmony.RUNNING IN PERIODThese headphones require a running in period in order to operate at their best. They will run themselves in naturally after several hours of listening time.If you want to speed up the process, we recommend playing very bassy music through them for at least 24 hours at a relatively high volume. This will stabilise the speaker drivers and allow you to get the very best out of your headphones.
