Description
Caravaggio™ pendant lamp with matt lacquered surface - Design: Cecilie Manz The Caravaggio™ pendant lamp has a timeless chic appeal. The aluminium shade has a matt lacquer finish on the outside, while the inside of the shade has been designed in white for ideal light reflection. Caravaggio™ finds its place as a light source above a table or as ambient lighting in the room and provides an appealing ambient illumination. The fresh, modern design comes from Danish designer Cecilie Manz, who was exposed to design as a child by her parents, both of whom were artists. After studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and spending a semester abroad at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, she now devotes her time to realising her designs in her own studio. Her work is based on the tradition of Scandinavian design, but has modern elements and, like the Caravaggio™ pendant lamp, can be harmonised with many contemporary interior design options and used in a variety of ways throughout the home. This fascinating pendant light is also ideal for upscale restaurants and hotels. The Caravaggio™ pendant luminaire was launched in 2005 and has quickly become a design icon, enhancing residential and commercial spaces in Denmark as well as abroad. Cecilie Manz not only designs lamps, but also ceramics, seating and storage furniture, which have one thing in common: these practical everyday objects are all characterised by clear beauty, which makes Cecilie Manz a master of modern minimalism. The Caravaggio™ series of lamps by Cecilie Manz is produced by the Danish company FRITZ HANSEN, which has its origins in 1872, when the carpenter Fritz Hansen from Nakskov received a trading license for Copenhagen. For 107 years the company, which had already gained a very good reputation in the first decades of the twentieth century and manufactured products of famous designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner and Kaare Klint, was family-owned before it was taken over by the Skandinavisk Holding to 75 % in 1979 and made fit for the future by high investments. Today FRITZ HANSEN has changed from a pure production company to a modern sales and brand company with a stronger focus on the end consumer.
