This kind of gold work is only done in one part of India, namely Orissa, where the goldsmiths are able to weave the gold so finely that it is litterally transparent. These large and stunning gold earrings are made from woven recycled sterling silver, with one micron of recycled gold vermeil. They hang from a polished disc of gold. What do we love about these earrings? They are so unusual and the work is extraodinarily fine. They make a bold statement while being very light and easy to wear. All Gem Bazaar jewellery comes in a vibrant upcycled silk sari bag and a pretty pillow box. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth, or wash gently in warm soapy water. All gold vermeil will eventually wear off, and the more often it is worn, the more quickly this will happen, especially in the places where it comes in contact with the skin. But as this piece has one full micron of 18k gold vermeil, and only comes into contact with the skin behind the earring, this should last a long time.
