Dormant through the summer, their distinctive nodding flowers are produced in profusion in autumn and once established the flowers appear straight from the ground before any leaves form. As the flowers die back in winter, the striking, silver-marked, deep green leaves appear, and last until the heat of the following summer. Attractive in their own right, the heart-shaped leaves which are patterned with whorls of splashes and random leaf markings, make a delightful ground cover. C.Hederifolium is the easiest of the hardy cyclamens to grow and the one that professional growers recommend for those of us who have not grown cyclamen before.
