Hypericum Hedging is fast growing. It is used as a stand- alone shrub, single species hedge or as part of a mixed floral hedge. Hypericum is a fast-growing shrub which soon clumps up by sending out runners. Delightful open yellow flowers are loved by bees and pollinating insects. In addition it provides a super habitat for birds and garden animals. Used to form a pretty ground cover. But it is especially good at stopping soil erosion on banks or slopes. We recommend 5 plants per metre in a double zig-zag row for a thick hedge, but you can get away with 3-4 per metre in a staggered row if you don’t mind waiting an extra year or two to form a thick hedge. Keep them well watered – especially in the Spring and Summer in the first year of planting.
