The 40mm design has been a part of the collection since 2020 but now boasts an even more refined case, creating a slenderer and sleeker profile. The completely re-engineered case construction makes this model particularly elegant and refined. Box-glass sapphire crystal offers an excellent view of the rich Obsidian coloured dial, elaborately finished with 15 layers of transparent lacquer to give the impression of optical depth. To achieve this, experts at IWC Schaffhausen mill the sub dial at 6 o’clock to meticulous levels and a special printing process adds even more three dimensional effect to the dial. The large aperture sapphire crystal on the back of the IWC Portugieser Automatic 40 Obsidian watch reference IW358401 showcases the IWC-manufactured movement from the 82000 calibre family, featuring a Pellaton winding system with ceramic components.
