Description
IWC Watch Portugieser Automatic IW500701. Crafted from 18ct 5N rose gold, this elegant timekeeping companion from IWC Schaffhausen belongs to the popular Portugieser collection. The 42.3mm model derives from an earlier 1930s design inspired by the precision and character of the Hunter Pocket watch reference 325. A silver plated dial is home to rose gold Arabic numerals and svelte central hour and minute hands. To the left of the hands a small second sub dial can be found, to the right a power reserve indicator to monitor the remaining energy levels of the company’s in-house developed Calibre 52010. The self winding engine is unique in the fact that it enables the wearer a larger view into its intricately arranged components, complete with Cotes de Geneve decoration. The movement is also equipped with a Pellaton Winding system first debuted by IWC Schaffhausen in 1950 and innovated by Albert Pellaton. It uses pawls instead of directing the gearing between the barrel and rotor. The movement’s power reserve is also stored in not one but two barrels. This men’s IWC Portugieser Automatic watch provides a date feature at 6 o’clock and comes complete on a beautifully crafted leather strap from Santoni with a polished 18ct rose gold pin buckle engraved with the IWC logo.
