Kallos Fine Jewellery Women's Gold / Silver Eion Silver And Gold Bracelet
Description
Classical Greek, circa 450 - 400 BC. An ancient Greek silver hemihekte of Eion, set in a bespoke and handmade modern 18 carat gold bracelet. This delicate coin depicts an animated goose with its head to the right and a lizard hovering above, with a quadripartite incuse square shown on the reverse. Eion was an ancient Greek colony in Thracian Macedonia, located at the mouth of the river Strymon. The significance of the goose depicted on the coin presumably refers to scenes from rural life at the time. Being located by a river, die cutters took inspiration from the aquatic birds that would have frequented the shores and marshlands of the area. These are rare and unique ancient miniature artworks, whilst they are designed to be worn we suggest avoiding contact with cosmetics, perfumes, chlorine, and chemicals. Clean with warm water and pat dry with a clean, soft cloth. When not in use, keep your jewellery in its box to protect it from dust and other debris.
