Kallos Fine Jewellery Women's Green / Gold Helios Bloodstone Gold Ring
Description
Roman, circa 2nd century AD. An ancient Roman bloodstone intaglio depicting the solar god Helios wearing a radiated diadem. Set in a bespoke and handmade modern 18 carat gold ring. Helios was the Titan god of the sun, a guardian of oaths, and the god of sight. He dwelt in a golden palace in the River Oceanus at the far ends of the earth from which he emerged each dawn, crowned with the aureole of the sun, driving a chariot drawn by four winged steeds. Bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, is an opaque green jasper with speckled red inclusions. Bloodstone was believed to have several magical properties throughout antiquity. The Romans believed that bloodstone brought the wearer renown and endurance, and protected them against evil spirits. These are rare and unique ancient miniature artworks, whilst they are designed to be worn we suggest avoiding contact with cosmetics, perfumes, chlorine, and chemicals. Clean with warm water and pat dry with a clean, soft cloth. When not in use, keep your jewellery in its box to protect it from dust and other debris.
