Roman Egypt, circa 2nd - 3rd century AD. An ancient yellow jasper Gnostic intaglio, from Roman Egypt, circa 2nd -3rd century AD depicting the triple-bodied goddess Hekate, set in a modern bespoke and handmade18 carat gold pendant. Magical or Gnostic Gems were used mainly in Hellenised Egyptian Alexandria. They combined Egyptian, Classical, Jewish and Christian symbols concerned with the protection of the owner and the elevation of his soul from the physical to the spiritual. These are rare and unique ancient miniature artworks, whilst they are designed to be worn we suggest avoiding contact with cosmetics, perfumes, chlorine, and chemicals. Clean with warm water and pat dry with a clean, soft cloth. When not in use, keep your jewellery in its box to protect it from dust and other debris.
