Lightweight Obermayer Evo Disc Wheelset Lightweight’s Obermayer Evo Disc Wheelset is another offering from their high-performance range of wheels. Building on the success of the Meilenstein Obermayer, the Evo is billed as a super-stiff, lightweight climbing option, with a claimed weight of just 1,230 grams, despite being tubeless-ready and disc compatible. The 48mm deep carbon rim has an Active Foam Core, which increases stiffness and reduces weight whilst also helping to damp any vibrations so it gives a smoother ride too. Each carbon fibre spoke runs all the way from rim to rim through the hub, with bonding at crossover points, for further stiffness and exceptional power transfer thus saving energy on long climbs. The Pentagon SL hubs have been designed to aid heat dissipation from the rotors, so the wheels descend as well as they climb, and the rear uses the internals from DT Swiss’ top drawer 180 EXP Ratchet model for excellent reliability and low weight.
