When harvested just before reaching full ripeness, a domestically grown Conference pear showcases an outstanding taste that is sure to satisfy.This exceptional pear variety, originating from the Rivers Nursery in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, in the latter part of the 19th century, is believed to have emerged as a seedling from the continental variety known as Van Mons Leon Leclerc. Its name pays homage to the National British Pear Conference held in 1885.
