Description
‘Bright eyes’ is a truly magical flower that will fill your garden with wonderfully contrasting blooms; pearly white petals, featuring a rich burgundy centre. From late May into early September you can enjoy the spectacular displays in your patio pots and boarders. This wondrous linum will also have frequent visits from the pollinating insects as they are rich in nectar! Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 20-25C (70-75F). Sowing Depth: Surface sow using peat/sand mix seed compost. Sowing Time: February-July. Germination usually takes 14-30 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions before planting out 30cm (12") apart in full sun. Prefers a well drained soil. Can be sown directly outdoors where they are to flower once the soil has warmed. Prepare the ground well and rake to a fine tilth before sowing. Sprinkle the seed thinly over the surface then rake lightly to ensure seed is covered. Alternatively, sow 1.5mm (1/16") deep in drills, 30cm (12") apart. Germination takes 14-21 days. Water regularly until plants are fully established. Annual Linum thrive in a sunny position with free draining soil.
