Lladro Mythical Ladies 01011958 Arethusa
Description
First released in 2010 and designed by Lladró sculptor José Luis Alvarez, Arethusa was a nymph and daughter of Nereus who fled from her home in Arcadia beneath the sea and came up as a fresh water fountain on the island of Ortygia in Syracuse, Sicily. Taking inspiration from classical mythology, this elegant piece in matt porcelain highlights the contrast between the pallor of the skin and the beautiful decoration of the tunic, finished in dark hues and decorated with lustres. Stands 35cm tall. From the Mythical Ladies collection, handmade in Spain.
