Louis Poulsen OE Quasi LED pendant light
Description
OE Quasi - a geometric masterpiece by Ólafur Elíasson It is important to the artist Ólafur Elíasson to find new geometric shapes that counterbalance the orthogonal shapes that are in the foreground in contemporary art, architecture and design. In the OE Quasi pendant light, which he designed for the manufacturer Louis Poulsen, he combines two unconventional shapes with the human need for a good quality of light. The outer aluminium frame has the shape of an icosahedron - a body with 20 triangular faces. In the corners of the frame, there are 12 LEDs, which are connected to light conductors on the inside surfaces. The light of the LEDs shines inwards onto a polycarbonate reflector in the shape of a dodecahedron, which has 12 pentagonal faces. This reflects the rays of light in all directions, creating a glare-free, even light all around. Due to the two contrasting shapes, different images are constantly emerging, depending on the perspective from which you view the light. In addition to his art projects, Ólafur Elíasson also actively campaigns for sustainability and climate change. This aspect played an important role in the choice of the materials for OE Quasi. 90% recycled material is used for the aluminium frame and all the other materials used are also recyclable.
