Mappin & Webb Watches Campaign Mens Watch
Description
Taking its name and design from the type of watches worn by British soldiers in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century our Campaign watch collection has a bold, forthright look that will resonate with today’s gentlemen. The polished stainless steel case gains extra interest by virtue of the intricate “coin edge” design on the side of the case and is matched by the classic milled onion shaped crown for ease of time changing or winding. At its heart beats a high quality Swiss automatic movement that marks time via elegant sword shaped hour and minute hands, whilst the seconds tick by on the subsidiary dial at 6 o'clock. The dials all benefit from clear, unambiguous Arabic hour markers, with two models proudly sporting a red “12” at the top of the dial that is inspired by military watches from our archives. Mappin & Webb is pleased to collaborate on fund-raising for Never Such Innocence and the launch of its Campaign watch collection, with 7% of net sales profit going to the charity. Never Such Innocence works to ensure young people nationally are inspired, informed and included in the centenary activities. Working with High Commissions and Embassies to highlight the global nature of the war, the charity encourages young people to actively learn about their shared history and heritage. The charity takes its name from Philip Larkin’s famous poem MCMXIV, which reflects on the changes caused by the First World War. The driving force behind Never Such Innocence is Lady Lucy French, great-granddaughter of Field Marshal Sir John French who commanded the British Expeditionary Forces from 1914-15.
