Cowhide offers excellent abrasion and tear strength. Each hide is visually inspected and batch tested before selection by one of their in-house craftsmen. This jacket comes with a fixed mesh inner lining which helps wo aid breathability as well as a removeable 100g cross quilted thermal lining which is there to aid the rider in staying warm on the cooler rides out. This jacket also features the British Marton Mills tartan liner trim. The zippers and hardware used on this jacket are made by the famous YKK zippers.The pockets on the Hixon II come in the form of two side entry zipped pockets with leather pull tabs with an internal fixed liner storage as well as pockets on the removeable thermal liner.This jacket has many added features which include two front ventilation panels and three rear vents to ensure that the rider can get a cool airflow through the jacket in the warmer weather. This jacket is cross quilted on the cuff, shoulders and the hems. The collar on this jacket is fold back for warmer weather riding. This jacket has a short YKK jacket-to-trouser connecting zip and a euro jacket-to-jean connector hoop.The protection on the Merlin Solitude jacket comes in the form of D3O LP1 shoulder and elbow armour which is pre-fitted and D3O Viper stealth back protector pocket with the protector not included. This jacket is certified to CE EN17092 Level 'AA'. The protection on offer is suited to touring gear. It specifies two seconds of abrasion resistance in Zone 1 (Shoulders, Elbows, Hips and Knees) at 412.6rpm (about 70km/h), one second at 265.3rpm in Zone 2 (outer arms, torso, legs and feet) and 0.5 seconds at 147.4rpm (the equivalent of around 25kmh) in Zone 3 (inner arms, torso and legs).
