Description
Mizuno ST-Z 220 Golf Driver The Mizuno ST-Z 220 Golf Driver uses a full 460cc volume head that has been pushed down to create a ground-hugging profile for higher launch while also encouraging lower spin and straighter flight of the ball. The ST-Z offers better performance consistently with exceptional stability from off centre strikes. This has been made possible due to the club being designed with a large carbon fibre crown which also features carbon fibre in the heel and toes areas of the sole. The amount of carbon fibre used in the sole is around 40% more than in previous design, which has meant that a lot of weight has been saved. This weight saving in the sole has meant that the designers have had more room to adjust weighting in other areas to positively influence the performance of this driver. One way they have been able to use the weight is by increasing the size of the stainless-steel weight that is placed in the back of the club by 80%. The face used on the ST-Z 220 uses a new high strength SAT2041 beta titanium face that has been designed to vary in thickness across the entire face. This beta titanium is an alloy that has been designed to offer both incredible flexibility and strength, 17% stronger than the material used in the Mizuno ST180 and ST190 drivers. Using this alloy means that the face of the driver is much more flexible, which means that when the face springs back after connecting with the golf ball it will be able to do so faster and with an extra burst of energy to carry the ball even further. In the sole Mizuno engineers have used Wave Technology for additional ball speed. This added ball speed is made possible thanks to the series of ridges that are used in the button of the head to allow for the lower section of the face to flex more on shots that strike lower on the face meaning high speeds can still be generated. Mizuno has also used their Harmonic Impact Research, which has been used before on several of their leading clubs, to identify and isolate vibration patterns that are created when striking a golf ball. These patterns create the sort of sound that many elite players associate with a preferred solid feel. Features and Benefits More Performance. More Often. The ST-Z delivers your optimum 'more often' through exceptional stability from off-centre strikes. An expansion of the carbon sole area by 40% and thinning out the Titanium portion. Alongside a near doubling of the stabilising back weight. Straight Flight Bias Mizunos Z-Axis design - weight is evenly distributed across toe and heel, encouraging a low spinning stable straight flight. Modern Players Profile Full 460cc volume pushed slightly to the ground for higher launch and low/mid spin performance. Visually square to slightly open in the standard-setting. Highly Resilient Forged SAT2041 Beta Ti FaceMaintains its characteristics and resists micro-fractures longer than the commonly used 6-4 Ti. Elevated through a multi-thickness CORTECH design for increased ball speeds. Engineered For Solid Feel Mizuno's Harmonic Impact Research identifies, and isolates vibration patterns that elite players associate with a preferred 'solid' feel. Knowledge of exact, preferred vibrations allows Mizuno to build sound into the design. Optimised Wave SoleDelivers an additional contribution to ball speeds, particularly from low on the clubface. Quick Switch Adjustability With 4 degrees of loft adjustability to fine-tune launch and trajectory.
